Manual / People & congregation
Zones, fellowships and other categories
Group members your own way: zones, fellowships, cells, districts and more.
People who manage members Open in WorshipHQ
Besides departments, many churches group members by zone (where they live), fellowship (Men, Women, Youth) or cell. You can create any of these. It's optional; if you don't, nothing changes.
Already using zones or fellowships? Open Settings, then Zones & fellowships, and use Move these to Groups. Every zone or fellowship becomes a group (with the same people in it), so you can filter by it on People, Directory and Attendance, let people pick it when they sign up, and message the whole group. You can keep the old categories or remove them (they go to the Recycle bin), and running it twice does no harm.
Create a category
- 1Go to Settings, then Zones & fellowships.
- 2Under Add a category, type a name, e.g. Zone.
- 3Type its options separated by commas, e.g. Zone A, Zone B, Zone C. You can add more later.
- 4Choose One per member (a member lives in one zone) or Can choose several (a member can be in two fellowships).
- 5Leave Ask on the join form ticked if members should pick it themselves when they register. Untick it if your leaders assign it.
- 6Choose Add category.
Manage options
- Add options with the box under each category. Type several separated by commas.
- Use the pencil to rename an option, and the cross to remove it. Members aren't deleted, they just leave that option.
- Use the pencil next to the category name to rename it or change its settings.
Where categories appear
- On Add member and Edit profile: a dropdown, or choices for several-allowed categories.
- On your public join form, if Ask on the join form is on.
- On People, as a filter, and on each profile.
- In Attendance: a breakdown by zone or fellowship for every service, and the present list can be grouped by them.
- In the members and attendance Excel downloads, as extra columns.
Prefer one simple idea? Zones, cells and fellowships can also be set up as Groups. Groups can be chosen on your sign-up forms, filtered on People, Directory and Attendance, and messaged in one go. See Groups, cells and committees.
