Self check-in with a QR code
Let members check themselves in by scanning a code with their phone.
- 1Open the service's page (choose Start check-in, or open a service from the history).
- 2On the right, under Self check-in, there's a QR code and a link. Choose Copy to copy the link.
- 3Show the QR code on a screen or print it. Members scan it with their phone camera.
- 4They type their name or phone number, find themselves in the short list, and tap Yes, that is me. Only a short name (for example Kofi M.) is shown, never your whole member list. Someone who is new taps I am new here and fills in a short form, and is recorded as a visitor and welcomed.
Make QR check-in harder to cheat
On the Attendance page, open QR check-in rules (or Settings, then Service times). You choose:
- How they prove it is them: Name only (quickest), Last 3 digits of their phone (free), or A code by SMS (strongest, uses 1 SMS credit each). Members with no phone number on file are asked to see an usher when you require a check.
- Only allow check-in at the church: stand at the church, choose Use where I am now as the church, pick how close people must be (100 metres to 1 km), and save. Phones must share their location, so a forwarded link does not work from home.
- How many people one phone can check in: no limit, or 1 to 5 per service. This stops one person typing in lots of names; a family sharing one phone may need 2 to 4.
- A visitor who has been before is found by name or phone, so they are not asked to fill in the form again. After the service you can welcome them back (see End a service).
- Typing a phone number we already know as a "new visitor" is not accepted while a check is switched on, so nobody can check in as someone else that way.
With service times switched on, one printed QR code keeps working for every service: a scan during the 2nd service lands in the 2nd service.
