Set up a USB fingerprint scanner
One-time setup of a fingerprint scanner on a Windows laptop or computer.
Pro plan and above Done once on each check-in computer
Fingerprint check-in uses a USB fingerprint scanner plugged into a Windows laptop or desktop. Each computer needs a one-time setup.
What you need
- A Windows laptop or desktop with internet.
- A compatible USB fingerprint scanner. We support ZKTeco readers such as the SLK20R.
Nothing else to download. The WorshipHQ installer brings the scanner's driver and everything else with it.
- 1Plug in the scanner.
- 2In WorshipHQ, open any member's profile and choose Register fingerprint (or Fingerprint on a service page). When it asks for the one-time setup, choose Download 1-click installer (Windows).
- 3Double-click the downloaded WorshipHQ-Scanner-Setup.exe. If Windows says it protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway. A window installs everything needed (the scanner driver and a free helper program) and sets the scanner to start automatically. Each step shows its own percentage. The first setup downloads about 25 MB, once. When Windows asks for permission to install the driver, choose Yes. Wait for You're all set.
- 4Choose Done - back to WorshipHQ. The scanner now works quietly in the background whenever the computer is on.
Unplugging the scanner while it's scanning can make it stop responding. If that happens, unplug it, wait a few seconds and plug it back in.
To remove the scanner software later, use the uninstaller offered in the same setup screen.
The scanner software only listens on that computer (never the network), only answers WorshipHQ, and updates itself the next time the computer starts. Only people who manage attendance, on a plan with biometric check-in, can register or load fingerprints.
